SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. 19

    A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION to honor the State of Israel for its commitment to promoting democracy and peace in the Middle East.

    Whereas, The State of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, is the greatest friend and ally of the United States in the Middle East;

    Whereas, Continued attacks on the people of Israel continue to undermine the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict;

    Whereas, Attempts to deny the legitimacy of the sovereign State of Israel continue unabated in the United Nations and international media;

    Whereas, The State of Indiana recognizes that Israel has a right to self-defense against attacks;

    Whereas, Indiana expresses strong support and a steadfast commitment to the security, welfare, and survival of the Jewish State of Israel with secure borders, and recognizes its right to act in self-defense to protect its citizens against acts of terrorism;

    Whereas, The State of Indiana calls for an end to all attacks against Israel, and for all nations and non-state actors to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state;

    Whereas, The State of Indiana also calls for the United Nations to work for true peace by ending its one-sided and unjust blaming of Israel when it engages in lawful acts of self-defense; and

    Whereas, The State of Indiana calls for an end to all attacks against Israel, and for all nations and non-state actors to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state: Therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate     of the General Assembly

of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives     concurring:

    SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly recognizes the State of Israel for its commitment to promoting democracy and peace in the Middle East.
