A RESOLUTION urging the legislative council to
establish an interim study committee to study informed consent
hysterectomies and oophorectomies.
Whereas, Many women having hysterectomies or
oophorectomies were not given the information necessary to
make an informed consent decision regarding what would or
would not be done to their bodies; and
Whereas, It must be ensured that all women are given the
information necessary when considering a hysterectomy or an
oophorectomy: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the legislative council is urged to establish an interim study committee to study informed consent for hysterectomies and oophorectomies.
SECTION 2. That the committee, if established, shall operate under the direction of the legislative council, and that the committee shall issue a final report when directed to do so by the council.
