A HOUSE RESOLUTION designating a Purple Heart
Trail within the state of Indiana.
Whereas, It is fitting and proper to never forget those who
have given their lives and shed their blood in defense of this
great nation;
Whereas, A Purple Heart Trail System is well established
throughout a large part of the United States Interstate Highway
System and the United States Designated Highway System in
the lower 48 states as well as highways in Alaska, Guam, and
Puerto Rico;
Whereas, Indiana is located in an area that is part of the National Purple Heart Trail System and will add credence to
those dedicated routes;
Whereas, Indiana should be proud to join this worthy effort
to establish the Purple Heart Trail across our great country;
Whereas, The placement of signs indicating the Purple
Heart Trail will show that Indiana is a part of this nationally
existing system; and
Whereas, U.S. Highway 41 is an excellent choice to
designate as the Purple Heart Trail in the state of Indiana:
Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives urges the Indiana Department of Transportation to designate that part of U.S. Highway 41 within the state of Indiana as a part of the National Purple Heart Trail.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to the Commissioner of the Indiana Department of Transportation and John Mateyko, Senior Vice Commander, Department of Indiana, Military Order of the Purple Heart.
