A HOUSE RESOLUTION urging the Legislative Council
to assign to an appropriate study committee the topic of the
operation of riding lawn mowers by young children.
Whereas, It is the responsibility of the General Assembly to
ensure that Hoosier children are protected from being put in
unnecessary danger of injury or death by the adults to whose
care they have been entrusted: Therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives urges the Legislative Council to assign to an appropriate study committee for interim study the topic of the operation of riding lawn mowers by children younger than 12 years of age, particularly whether allowing
children younger than 12 years of age to operate a riding lawn mower alone or ride with an adult who is in control of the riding lawn mower should constitute a crime or infraction.
