A HOUSE RESOLUTION congratulating the Wapahani
High School girls volleyball team.
Whereas, As defending state champions, the Wapahani
Lady Raiders fought their way back to take three straight sets
to successfully repeat as Class 2A volleyball state champions;
Whereas, Top-ranked Wapahani (33-4) lost only one set
during the state tournament, and won the championship match
at Worthen Arena by scores of 25-15, 25-6, and 25-22;
Whereas, Aubreigh Applegate led the way with 21 kills
followed by Courtney Mitchell with 14 and Lindi Thomas with
13;
Whereas, Paige Williamson was named the winner of the Mental Attitude Award by the Indiana High School Athletic Association;
Whereas, With a 3.4 grade point average, Paige
Williamson is a member of the National Honor Society, Future
Business Leaders of America, and the Freshmen Mentor
program, and was voted to the Mid-Eastern All-Conference
volleyball team as well as the Second Team Class 2A All-State;
and
Whereas, It is fitting that we give special recognition to the
outstanding young athletes and coaches of the Wapahani High
School girls volleyball team: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives congratulates the Wapahani High School girls volleyball team on its Class 2A state championship and wishes the team members continued success in all their future endeavors.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit copies of this resolution to team members Aubreigh Applegate, Brittany Cline, Addie Reynolds, Kiley Lingenfelter, Katie Foster, MacKenzie Evans, Courtney Masters, Shawna Estep, Lindi Thomas, Caitlyn Curry, Hannah Smith, Courtlinn Boggs, Courtney Mitchell, Paige Williamson, and Megan Hicks, head coach Mike Lingenfelter, assistant coaches Mike Dodrill, Alexis Fuelling, Jessica Hartley, Kent Hughes, and Stewart Peck, athletic director Mark Fahey, principal Dr. Chad Briggs, and superintendent Bryan Rausch.
