A RESOLUTION honoring Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi.
Whereas, Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi joined the Purdue University
Chemistry Department faculty in 1979 and has through the
course of his service received many honors, both nationally and
internationally, as a result of the exemplary instruction and
guidance he has dedicated to his students;
Whereas, Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi has made innumerable
contributions to the advancement of the science of chemistry
through his decades of research, and his contributions have
had a global impact;
Whereas, Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi was a vital contributor to the development of an easy and efficient process whereby complex
organic compounds can be synthesized, allowing the
advancement of technologies in fields ranging from
pharmaceuticals to electrical engineering; and
Whereas, Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi was awarded the 2010 Nobel
Prize in chemistry for his invaluable contributions to the field
of chemistry: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives honors and congratulates Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi for his years of service to Purdue University as well as the global scientific community, and gives many thanks for his dedication and service and best wishes for continued future success.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to Dr. Ei-ichi Negishi.
