RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION honoring John Lefever.
Whereas, John Lefever was a valued member of the Whitley
County Economic Development Corporation, participating
in every major community initiative and economic
development project for the past 20 years;
Whereas, Some projects spearheaded by John Lefever
include the extension of the sewer and water infrastructure
in the U.S. 30 industrial corridor, the establishment of the
Park 30 Business Center and the Rail Connect Business
Park, and the attraction of high growth companies such as
ChromaSource, Steel Dynamics, and Triad Metals to the
local business community;
Whereas, A graduate of Heidelberg University with a
degree in elementary education, John Lefever serves as
President and CEO of STAR Insurance, a subsidiary of STAR
Financial Group;
Whereas, John Lefever also serves on the STAR Financial
Bank board of directors, STAR executive committee, and
manages the 60-employee insurance team;
Whereas, In addition to his service with the Whitley County Economic Development Corporation, John Lefever has contributed to his community as a member of the Whitley County Council; past president of the Old Settlers Days Association; a founding member of the Whitley County YMCA; a member of the Fort Wayne Metro YMCA Finance
Committee; and a founding board member and current
member of the Whitley County Community Foundation;
Whereas, John Lefever served on the Whitley County
Economic Development Corporation board of directors from
1994 - 2011, holding the positions of chairman, vice
chairman, and treasurer;
Whereas, John Lefever received the 1987 Citizen of the
Year award for his participation in the development of the
Whitley County 911 program; and
Whereas, John Lefever has served his community with
distinction and honor: Therefore,
SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly acknowledges the
many contributions made by John Lefever and encourages him to
continue working for the good of the community and its citizens.
SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
Representatives transmit a copy of this resolution to John Lefever.
