Bill Title: Battery on a sports official. Provides that battery on a certified athletic official is a Class A misdemeanor. Grants limited liability protection against civil lawsuits claiming injury or damages to certified athletic officials who: (1) inspect the playing surface and areas immediately adjacent to the playing surface for hazards before the start of an athletic contest; (2) determine if weather conditions are appropriate for beginning or continuing an athletic contest; (3) inspect game equipment before and during an athletic contest; (4) inspect players' equipment for safety and compliance with applicable rules before beginning an athletic contest; and (5) control an
