2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of
former Wheeling Village President Judy | ||||||
4 | Abruscato, who passed away on
December 28, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Judy Abruscato had been a resident
of Wheeling | ||||||
6 | since 1969; she was the longest-serving elected official in | ||||||
7 | Wheeling with
29 years in various roles of village government, | ||||||
8 | including the village's Zoning
Board of Appeals, as a village | ||||||
9 | trustee for 22 years, and as Wheeling Village
President; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, In 2013, Judy Abruscato celebrated her 35th
| ||||||
11 | anniversary working for MB Financial, where she was Wheeling | ||||||
12 | Branch Manager and Vice
President; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Judy Abruscato served her
community beyond her | ||||||
14 | roles in village government by being active in the
Wheeling | ||||||
15 | High School Parent Teacher Organization, the Wheeling High | ||||||
16 | School
Instrumental League, the Wheeling Lioness Club, the | ||||||
17 | Wheeling Rotary Club, the
Wheeling/Prospect Heights Chamber of | ||||||
18 | Commerce & Industry, the Wheeling
Garden Club, the Wheeling | ||||||
19 | Historical Society, and the Wheeling Senior Center
Foundation; | ||||||
20 | and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Throughout her time in public service, Judy |

1 | Abruscato started the holiday Festival of Lights, the Taste of | ||||||
2 | Wheeling,
and the Fourth of July fireworks; she also worked to | ||||||
3 | get bulletproof vests for police
officers and to create a | ||||||
4 | program to reimburse businesses for improving their
building | ||||||
5 | facades; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Judy Abruscato will be remembered
for her hard | ||||||
7 | work and her service to the people of Wheeling; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Judy Abruscato was preceded in death
by her | ||||||
9 | husband, Mario, and her parents; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Judy Abruscato is survived by her
children, | ||||||
11 | Valerie and Tony, and her grandchildren, Nicholas and Jackson; | ||||||
12 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
15 | former Wheeling Village President Judy Abruscato, recognize | ||||||
16 | her longtime dedication to public service, and extend our | ||||||
17 | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
18 | and loved her; and be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Judy Abruscato as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our deepest sympathy.
