SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
learn of the death of Clifford Hamilton, who passed away on
December 3, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Clifford Hamilton was born in Matthews, Missouri
to Tommy and Rebecca Hamilton in 1940; he was educated at
Calderon Elementary School and Lilbourn High School in
Lilbourn, Missouri, where he was an outstanding athlete in
basketball; he relocated to Chicago and later to Joliet, where
he met and married Zola Bennett; and
WHEREAS, Clifford Hamilton retired from Commonwealth
Edison after 30 years of service and the City of Joliet after
10 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Clifford Hamilton was a long-time member of the
Mt. Zion Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, Clifford Hamilton was preceded in death by his
parents, Tommy and Rebecca Hamilton-Williams (Alexander
Williams); his brothers, Alfred and Jack Hamilton; his sister,
Delores Bell; his daughters, Adelina and Carolyn; his sons,
Lonnie and Eurlee; his granddaughters, London George and
Krystle Williams; and his sons-in-law, Billie and Benny; and

WHEREAS, Clifford Hamilton is survived by his wife, Zola;
his sons, Christopher (Angie) and Craig Hamilton; his
daughters, Landra Phelps, Sandra Steward (Michael), Detra
Williams, Anntonette Hamilton-Williams, Kimberly Veasy
(Stephen), Connie Ellis, and Tracy McCullum (Weems Jr.); 28
grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Virgie April
and Ruby (Donald) Burton; and his brother-in-law, Harvey
Bennett (Myrdes); therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Clifford Hamilton and extend our sincere condolences to his
family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Clifford Hamilton as an expression
of our deepest sympathy.
