SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dolores Shirley Sellers Williams; and
4 WHEREAS, Dolores Williams was born in Chicago to Iona
5Morgan Sellers Brunson and Tommy Sellers on April 1, 1930; she
6grew up on the West Side of Chicago and attended Grant Tennyson
7Elementary School and Lucy Flowers High School; she was a
8member of St. Stephens AME Church and married Richard Williams
9Sr. on October 31, 1950; and
10 WHEREAS, Dolores Williams worked as a parent community
11representative for the local school system for over 25 years;
12and
13 WHEREAS, Dolores Williams was affectionately known as
14"Doe" and enjoyed telling jokes to her family and friends; she
15fostered many children in the neighborhood with meals, trips to
16her country home in Cassopolis, and with the sharing of wise
17words; she had a passion for nature and gardening, and loved
18planting flowers, fruits, and vegetables; she enjoyed fishing
19trips with her aunt, Juanita, and spending time with her
20grandchildren; she attended every birthday, graduation,
21ceremony, and celebration; and

1 WHEREAS, Dolores Williams and Richard enjoyed taking
2family trips to places such as San Diego, Lake Ivanhoe in
3Wisconsin, and Cassopolis, Michigan; and
4 WHEREAS, Dolores Williams was preceded in death by her
5husband of 66 years, Richard; her father, Tommy Sellers; her
6mother, Iona Morgan Sellers Brunson; her siblings, Carlos,
7Donald, Barbara, Arlene, and Pierre; her daughter, Deborah
8Jackson; and her granddaughter, Dianna Jackson; and
9 WHEREAS, Dolores Williams is survived by her sister,
10Jeanette Rawls; her aunt, Juanita Kato; her sister-in-law,
11Minnie Brown; her daughter, Sheila Dorns; her sons, Tyrone
12(Janice), Richard Jr., Kevin (Victoria), Keith (Pamela), and
13Vincent (Suzanne) Williams; her grandchildren, Nolentha (Eric)
14Nichols, Ru-Grandi (Anitri) Dorns, Jareal, Sheverta, Deonna,
15Bobby, Draper, Jarmoyne (Michael) Brandon, Dominique Duncan,
16Delores "Mariah", Keith II, Guy, Robin, Richard J. (Yolanda),
17Jeremy, Lauren, Lorina (Ebony) Nichols, Camella, Elizabeth
18(Bruce) Kelley, Vincent II, Emily, Antione, and Donyella; 15
19great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and extended
20family members, Kim (Michael) Powell, Bernard Wolfe Jr.,
21Charisse "Sherry" Wolfe, Adrena Williams, Heurton II, Kenneth,
22Lynn, and Tony Brown, Leon, Aaron, Rhoda, and Elaine Williams,
23Willie, Donald, Pat, and Andy Box, and Edwina (Anthony) McGee;
24and her best friends, Mildred Hill, Helene Goss, and Johnnie

2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Dolores Shirley Sellers Williams, and extend our sincere
5condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
6her; and be it further
7 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Dolores Williams as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
