| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Laudato Si', the groundbreaking encyclical by | ||||||
3 | Pope Francis written in 2015, is devoted to the care of our | ||||||
4 | common home and offers important teachings for all Illinoisans | ||||||
5 | to read and reflect upon as policies are developed to address | ||||||
6 | serious challenges in our environment; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, The encyclical notes that with these challenges, | ||||||
8 | we are faced with one crisis that is both social and | ||||||
9 | environmental; solutions to this crisis require an integrated | ||||||
10 | approach that focuses on both the person and nature; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Laudato Si' reminds all of us, including | ||||||
12 | government leaders, of our moral responsibility to care for our | ||||||
13 | common home; therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the members of the | ||||||
16 | General Assembly come together in a bipartisan manner to | ||||||
17 | discuss and develop just policies for the State of Illinois | ||||||
18 | that consider both our environmental and social systems in | ||||||
19 | addressing the various issues that affect our common home.
