2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Emma Lee McCullum of Joliet, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on January 19, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Emma McCullum was born to Pink and Lacy Jones in | ||||||
6 | Heidelberg, Mississippi on January 19, 1933; she married Weems | ||||||
7 | McCullum, Sr. on Christmas Eve in 1952; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Emma McCullum enjoyed a career of more than 30 | ||||||
9 | years at Caterpillar, Inc. and was in the first group of women | ||||||
10 | hired by the company; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Emma McCullum was a faithful member of Second | ||||||
12 | Baptist Church for over 60 years; she also volunteered at the | ||||||
13 | Second Baptist and Sacred Heart Blessing Tables; her house was | ||||||
14 | open to anyone who needed a meal; she possessed the gifts of | ||||||
15 | generosity and conversation and never met a stranger; and

16 | WHEREAS, Emma McCullum was preceded in death by her | ||||||
17 | parents; her 2 brothers; and her sister; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Emma McCullum is survived by her husband, Weems | ||||||
19 | McCullum, Sr.; her 2 daughters, Edna (Saul) Brass and LaJean | ||||||
20 | (Steven) Grossett; her 2 sons, Derrick "Donnie" McCullum and |

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
11 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
12 | Emma Lee McCullum, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
13 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
14 | further
