1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Nancy Caroline Casteel King of | ||||||
4 | Champaign, who passed away on June 3, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Nancy King was born to Lela May McGarvey and | ||||||
6 | Myron Craig Casteel in Detroit on December 6, 1937; she was | ||||||
7 | raised by her parents in Springfield; she earned her | ||||||
8 | bachelor's degree in History and English from Millikin | ||||||
9 | University in 1959, where she made lifelong friends as a | ||||||
10 | member of Pi Beta Phi women's fraternity; she married Gene | ||||||
11 | King; she earned her master's degree in Psychology and | ||||||
12 | Guidance Counseling from the University of Illinois; after | ||||||
13 | relocating to Champaign, she received her broker's designation | ||||||
14 | from Parkland College; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Nancy King taught middle school in Rantoul; she | ||||||
16 | later served as Dean of Girls in Lombard as well as a guidance | ||||||
17 | counselor in La Grange; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Nancy King went on to have a long and successful | ||||||
19 | career in real estate; she was a broker and owner of Landmark | ||||||
20 | Real Estate; she was also a top producer with Devonshire | ||||||
21 | Realty and Coldwell Banker; throughout her real estate career, | ||||||
22 | she continued to use her educational background while |

1 | explaining contract terms to clients, teaching real estate | ||||||
2 | classes, and
frequently mentoring new agents; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Nancy King was a longtime member of Faith United | ||||||
4 | Methodist Church in Champaign, where she enjoyed fellowship | ||||||
5 | and attending and teaching Bible study; she was also integral | ||||||
6 | in establishing the church's columbarium, where she will | ||||||
7 | interred; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Nancy King was an avid reader, artist, musician, | ||||||
9 | cook, and gardening enthusiast; she loved traveling and took | ||||||
10 | many great trips with family and her close group of friends; | ||||||
11 | she also enjoyed having monthly lunches with her Red Hat | ||||||
12 | Society; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
15 | Nancy Caroline Casteel King and extend our sincere
condolences | ||||||
16 | to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be | ||||||
17 | it further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

19 | presented to the family of Nancy King as an expression of
our | ||||||
20 | deepest sympathy.
