SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Raymond "Ray" Shackelford of Cordova,
who passed away on November 27, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford was born in Walker, Iowa to
Truman and Etta (Ossman) Shackelford on July 31, 1927; he
served in the U.S. Army during World War II; he married Ruth
Glass in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 3, 1946; and
WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford worked at Tecco for 46 years; and
WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford was an active member of the
Cordova American Legion and the First Baptist Church of
Cordova; he enjoyed reading, fishing, playing bridge, baking
cookies, participating in VA events, and his monthly lunches
with Eleanor Nelson and Judy Bergren; and
WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford was preceded in death by his
wife, Ruth; his parents; and his brother, Forest; and
WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford is survived by his daughters and
sons-in-law, Connie and Jim Stratton, and Pamela and Terry
Barber; his very special friend, Eleanor Nelson and her
family; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight

great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; his first
great-great-grandchild due in May 2023; and his cats, Junior
and Mamie; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Raymond "Ray" Shackelford and extend our sincere condolences
to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Ray Shackelford as an expression of
our deepest sympathy.
