2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Raymond "Ray" Shackelford of Cordova, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on November 27, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford was born in Walker, Iowa to | ||||||
6 | Truman and Etta (Ossman) Shackelford on July 31, 1927; he | ||||||
7 | served in the U.S. Army during World War II; he married Ruth | ||||||
8 | Glass in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 3, 1946; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford worked at Tecco for 46 years; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford was an active member of the | ||||||
11 | Cordova American Legion and the First Baptist Church of | ||||||
12 | Cordova; he enjoyed reading, fishing, playing bridge, baking | ||||||
13 | cookies, participating in VA events, and his monthly lunches | ||||||
14 | with Eleanor Nelson and Judy Bergren; and

15 | WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford was preceded in death by his | ||||||
16 | wife, Ruth; his parents; and his brother, Forest; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Ray Shackelford is survived by his daughters and | ||||||
18 | sons-in-law, Connie and Jim Stratton, and Pamela and Terry | ||||||
19 | Barber; his very special friend, Eleanor Nelson and her | ||||||
20 | family; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; eight |

1 | great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; his first | ||||||
2 | great-great-grandchild due in May 2023; and his cats, Junior | ||||||
3 | and Mamie; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Raymond "Ray" Shackelford and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
7 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
8 | it further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to the family of Ray Shackelford as an expression of | ||||||
11 | our deepest sympathy.
