1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Paul Herman Uphoff of Graymont, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on June 24, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Paul Uphoff was born to Clarence J. and Lydia | ||||||
6 | (Brave) Uphoff on October 6, 1942; he was raised on the family | ||||||
7 | farm south of Graymont; he attended Flanagan Schools, where he | ||||||
8 | was very involved in FFA, remaining an avid supporter | ||||||
9 | throughout his life, and won the National Farm Mechanics | ||||||
10 | Award; after high school, he served in the Illinois National | ||||||
11 | Guard; he married Sarah Lebo in El Paso on July 26, 1969, and | ||||||
12 | they had five children; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Paul Uphoff returned to work on the family farm | ||||||
14 | with his brother, and he later worked beside his son, Philip; | ||||||
15 | alongside his family, he spent many years in the Columbia | ||||||
16 | sheep business, meeting many wonderful lifelong friends from | ||||||
17 | around the country at the annual National Show and Sale, a | ||||||
18 | yearly adventure that the entire family enjoyed; he worked on | ||||||
19 | the farm until his passing; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Paul Uphoff was deeply committed to his faith; he | ||||||
21 | and his wife served as youth sponsors at St. John's Lutheran | ||||||
22 | Church, and he later became a Sunday School teacher; in his |

1 | later years, he enjoyed attending coffee hours with his church | ||||||
2 | crew and providing pizzas to the youth groups at Graymont | ||||||
3 | Baptist Church; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Paul Uphoff never met a stranger, loved to travel | ||||||
5 | out West, and always liked the idea of the cowboy life; most of | ||||||
6 | all, he was dedicated to his family, working tirelessly to | ||||||
7 | provide for them and set the right example; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Paul Uphoff is survived by his wife of 53 years, | ||||||
9 | Sarah; his children, Anne (Nick) Macey, Mary (Rob) McCorkle, | ||||||
10 | Seth (Jen) Uphoff, Leah (Ryan) Hansen, and Philip (Brook) | ||||||
11 | Uphoff; his grandchildren, Caity (Nate Aiello) Macey, Sarah | ||||||
12 | Macey, Dalton (Ashleigh) McCorkle, Adam McCorkle, Grace | ||||||
13 | McCorkle, Avery Uphoff, Emma Uphoff, Ben Uphoff, Kate Uphoff, | ||||||
14 | Elsie Hansen, Andrew Hansen, Maggie Hansen, Lydia Hansen, Drew | ||||||
15 | Uphoff, Abram Uphoff, and one Uphoff baby due in August; his | ||||||
16 | great-grandchildren, Ava Aiello and Molly McCorkle; his | ||||||
17 | brother, John (Liz) Uphoff; and his sister, Dorothy (John) | ||||||
18 | Rosenbaum; therefore, be it

19 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
20 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
21 | Paul Herman Uphoff and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
22 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
23 | further
