2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply | ||||||
3 | saddened to learn of the death of Joe Mayeski of Benton, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on July 2, 2012; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski was born on December 25, 1913, to John | ||||||
6 | and Katie (Mick) Mayeski; he graduated Benton High School in | ||||||
7 | 1933; he married Katie Louise (Garavaglia) on November 25, | ||||||
8 | 1945, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski was a decorated World War II veteran; | ||||||
10 | he served in the South Pacific from 1941 to 1945, with the rank | ||||||
11 | of Master Technical Sergeant; he owned and operated a Conoco, | ||||||
12 | then Marathon, gas station in West City from 1945 to 1963; he | ||||||
13 | worked for Southern Illinois University-Carbondale for the | ||||||
14 | Maintenance Department; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski thoroughly enjoyed golfing, | ||||||
16 | gardening, and fishing; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
18 | Katie Louise; his parents, John and Katie Mayeski; and his | ||||||
19 | brother, Stanley Mayeski; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Joe Mayeski is survived by his daughter, Anna |

8 | Joe Mayeski, and we extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
