| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Bill Stewart of East Alton, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on December 15, 2011; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, He was born February 18, 1924 in McLeansboro, a | ||||||
| 6 | son of Cloyd and Georgia (Green) Stewart; he married Hazel | ||||||
| 7 | Nadine Williams on February 24, 1945 in Norris City; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, He was a retired math teacher at Roxana High | ||||||
| 9 | School and Lewis & Clark Community College; he also served on | ||||||
| 10 | the Wood River Township Board for 9 terms totaling 28 years; he | ||||||
| 11 | was a member of the East Alton School Board and was a | ||||||
| 12 | basketball and track coach at Roxana High School; he loved | ||||||
| 13 | fishing and basketball; he was also a member of the Vaughn Hill | ||||||
| 14 | Church of Christ; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, He was a World War II Army veteran and earned a | ||||||
| 16 | Bronze Star and a Silver Star for his service, which included | ||||||
| 17 | the invasion of Omaha Beach in Normandy, France; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his | ||||||
| 19 | brother; and his 3 sisters; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Bill Stewart is survived by his wife, Hazel; his | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | daughter, Billie Whipple; his son, Stanley Kent Stewart; his | ||||||
| 2 | granddaughter, Allison Renee Poindexter; and his nieces, | ||||||
| 3 | nephews, and other extended family; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
| 6 | his family and friends, the passing of Bill Stewart; and be it | ||||||
| 7 | further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to the family of Bill Stewart as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 10 | sincere sympathy.
