2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Edward J. Mathis of Henry, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on September 10, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Edward Mathis was born in Henry to George and Amy | ||||||
6 | (Johnson) Mathis on April 6, 1931; He served in the U.S. Air | ||||||
7 | Force; he married Frances Myers in Varna on August 10, 1951; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Edward Mathis was an auto mechanic at Klein's | ||||||
10 | Auto in Henry; he owned and operated his own auto service | ||||||
11 | garage in Henry for many years and then retired from S&K | ||||||
12 | Chevrolet in Peoria; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Edward Mathis served on the Henry City Council | ||||||
14 | for two terms; he was a member of Henry United Methodist Church | ||||||
15 | and a lifetime Member of the Henry American Legion; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Edward Mathis was preceded in death by his wife; | ||||||
17 | his daughter, Barbara Benvenuti; one brother; one sister; and | ||||||
18 | two grandchildren; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Edward Mathis is survived by his sons, Michael | ||||||
20 | (Robin) and Allan (Carol) Mathis; seven grandchildren; 13 |

3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
5 | Edward J. Mathis and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
6 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
