2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Louis Edward Whitsell of Pontoon Beach, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on September 13, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, He was born in Granite City on July 30, 1936; he | ||||||
6 | lived in Pontoon Beach most of his life until he retired and | ||||||
7 | moved in 1999 to a mini farm in Worden; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, He graduated from Granite City High School in | ||||||
9 | 1955; he served in United States Marine Corps Reserves from | ||||||
10 | 1957 to 1962; he attended Southern Illinois University in | ||||||
11 | Edwardsville and Lincoln Tech; he was a Tool and Die Maker for | ||||||
12 | 46 years; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, He was very active in politics and the Democratic | ||||||
14 | party; he held elected office in many positions in Madison | ||||||
15 | County, Nameoki Township, and Pontoon Beach; from 1968 to 1999 | ||||||
16 | he served in different capacities as a Supervisor, County Board | ||||||
17 | Member, Clerk, Treasurer, Alderman, Comptroller, Highway | ||||||
18 | Superintendent, Precinct Committeeman; he was a member of | ||||||
19 | Masonic Lodge 877, the Lions Club, and the Township Officials | ||||||
20 | of Illinois; and

21 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in his death by his mother, Louise |

1 | (Frazier) Whitsell; his father; Elmon Whitsell; his sisters, | ||||||
2 | Edith Whitsell McClusky and Mary Lou (Whitsell) Smith; his | ||||||
3 | brother, David Whitsell; and his grandchild, Chad Petrillo; and

4 | WHEREAS, Louis Whitsell is survived by his wife, Dell | ||||||
5 | (O'Brian) Whitsell; his daughters, Debra and Mercie Mendoza, | ||||||
6 | Deanna (Whitsell) Spears, Cindy Stoner, Susan Sparks, and | ||||||
7 | Judith and Lance Haynes; his sisters, Shirley (Whitsell) Sims, | ||||||
8 | Sandy (Whitsell) Riffey, and Ginny (Whitsell) Bettis; his | ||||||
9 | brother, Jimmy Whitsell; his grandchildren, Natalie | ||||||
10 | (Zimmerman) Furniss, Jessica (Jones) Daniels, Samuel Stoner, | ||||||
11 | Mallory Stoner, Molly Haynes, and Zackary Louis Sparks; and his | ||||||
12 | great-grandchildren, Callie Daniels and Ava Daniels; | ||||||

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | ||||||
15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
16 | his family and friends, the passing of Louis Whitsell; and be | ||||||
17 | it further
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Louis Whitsell as a symbol of our | ||||||
20 | sincere sympathy.
