2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Francis Joseph Geraghty of Beach Park, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on May 2, 2013; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was born on April 18, 1934, in | ||||||
6 | Lake Forest; he married his high school sweetheart, Emma | ||||||
7 | Roberts; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was baptized Catholic at St. | ||||||
9 | Mary's Church in Lake Forest and attended Lake Forest High | ||||||
10 | School; in high school, he worked as a service station | ||||||
11 | attendant before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After his stint in the military, Francis Geraghty | ||||||
14 | purchased a Bulko station on Grand Avenue in Waukegan and | ||||||
15 | another in Wheeling; he subsequently changed direction and | ||||||
16 | became the proprietor of what became known as Mickey's Michigan | ||||||
17 | Inn in Waukegan; following his retirement, he worked part time | ||||||
18 | at Bonnie Brook Golf Course; and

19 | WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was born and raised on Lake | ||||||
20 | Michigan and spent his youth swimming and skating; he later | ||||||
21 | became an avid boatman for many years, being a member of the |

1 | Kenosha Yacht Club and Trident Marina; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty was preceded in death by his | ||||||
3 | parents, Francis P. and Catherine Geraghty; his wife, Emma | ||||||
4 | Jean; his dear son and daughter, William Raymond Geraghty and | ||||||
5 | Diana Sue Geraghty; his granddaughter, Sissy Alice Geraghty; | ||||||
6 | and his sister, Kay Glynn; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Francis Geraghty is survived by his wife, Ann | ||||||
8 | Marie; his daughter, Deborah Ann Savage (Shawn); his son, | ||||||
9 | Francis Joseph Geraghty III (Susan); his grandchildren, Emily | ||||||
10 | Jean Geraghty, Rowdy John (Natalie) Geraghty, Meghan (Dan) | ||||||
11 | Carlson, Christopher (Katrin) Savage, Andrew Savage (fiancee, | ||||||
12 | Kelsey Mitchell), and Justin and Alison Calhoun; his | ||||||
13 | great-grandchildren, Emma, Nicholas, and Alexander Carlson and | ||||||
14 | Matthew and Benjamin Savage; his sister, Sue Anne Tewes; his | ||||||
15 | brother, William P. (Constance) Geraghty; and his many cousins, | ||||||
16 | nieces, nephews, and dear neighbors; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | ||||||
19 | his family and friends, the passing of Francis Joseph Geraghty; | ||||||
20 | and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Francis Geraghty as an expression of |
