2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Chicago Alderman JoAnn Thompson, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 9, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson was born in Chicago on September | ||||||
6 | 18, 1956 to Exlean Gosa and Thomas Fowler; she married Joseph | ||||||
7 | "Ricky" Thompson; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson joined the Cook County Sheriff's | ||||||
9 | Department in 1995 and worked her way up the ranks to | ||||||
10 | Lieutenant; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson was inaugurated as the 54th | ||||||
12 | Alderman of the 16th Ward on May 21, 2007; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
14 | husband, Joseph; her parents; and her sisters, Naomi Mayfield, | ||||||
15 | Kitty Mae Ware, and LaRose Ellis; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, JoAnn Thompson is survived by her son, Joseph; her | ||||||
17 | daughters, Melanie and Latrece; her grandchildren, DeVonte | ||||||
18 | Thompson, Jessica Gines, Jerrika Gines, Ernest Gibson, and | ||||||
19 | Maiyah Carlo; her step-father, Birdsee Gosa; her brother, | ||||||
20 | Alfred Ellis; her sisters, Elaine Poole, Janette Henderson |

2 | host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues; and her | ||||||

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Chicago Alderman JoAnn Thompson, and extend our sincere | ||||||
7 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
8 | her; and be it further
