2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Veronica Daphne "Ronny" Gordon, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on March 7, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Ronny Gordon was born in Chicago to Hayes Edward | ||||||
6 | Wordlaw and Frances Dean Wordlaw on December 12, 1961; she | ||||||
7 | graduated from Rezin Orr High School in 1980; she married | ||||||
8 | Phillip Gordon in 1989, and they renewed their vows in 2009; | ||||||
9 | and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Ronny Gordon worked at Household Finance | ||||||
11 | Corporation for several years before she began taking care of | ||||||
12 | her family, where her talents flourished; after the untimely | ||||||
13 | death of her mother, she became the matriarch of the Wordlaw | ||||||
14 | family; several years later, after her mother-in-law became | ||||||
15 | impaired, she welcomed the role of matriarch of the Gordon | ||||||
16 | family; and

17 | WHEREAS, Ronny Gordon was committed to her faith and | ||||||
18 | participated in the weekly teleservice for the New Precious | ||||||
19 | Grove Missionary Baptist Church; she loved shopping, playing | ||||||
20 | spades, and spending time with family; she also loved dancing, | ||||||
21 | singing, laughing, and playing; and

1 | WHEREAS, Ronny Gordon was known for being strong-willed, | ||||||
2 | hard-loving, soft-hearted, witty, and generous; she valued | ||||||
3 | family above all else; she will be missed; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Ronny Gordon was preceded in death by her | ||||||
5 | parents; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Ronny Gordon is survived by her husband of 31 | ||||||
7 | years, Phillip Gordon; her daughter, Tabitha Franklin | ||||||
8 | (Patrick); her son, Phillip Gordon II; her grandchild, Camryn; | ||||||
9 | her siblings, Edward Wordlaw, Darrell Wordlaw (Ann), Michael | ||||||
10 | Wordlaw (Tysonia), Terrance Wordlaw, Sharon Wordlaw (James), | ||||||
11 | Rodney Wordlaw, Johnny Wordlaw, James Gordon, John Gordon Jr., | ||||||
12 | Willie Gordon (Diane), Tina Gordon, and Angela Martin; her 22 | ||||||
13 | nieces and nephews; her 29 great-nieces and great-nephews; and | ||||||
14 | a host of special cousins, godchildren, and close friends; | ||||||
15 | therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
18 | Veronica Daphne "Ronny" Gordon and extend our sincere | ||||||
19 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
20 | her; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Ronny Gordon as an expression of our |
