2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Darren R. Simmons, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | January 14, 2021; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Darren Simmons was born in Granite City to Howard | ||||||
6 | and Roberta Simmons; he was a lifelong resident of Madison | ||||||
7 | County; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Darren Simmons worked as a plan engineer for | ||||||
9 | AT&T, where he was employed for over 20 years; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Darren Simmons enjoyed golfing, spending time at | ||||||
11 | the beach and the neighborhood pool, and watching the | ||||||
12 | Cardinals, the Blues, and NASCAR; he was a talented musician, | ||||||
13 | and his love for music began when he was given a drum set at | ||||||
14 | the age of 5; as an adult, he was a member of Vinnie and the | ||||||
15 | Orphans, Rough Grooved Surface, and the Jack Cass Trio; and

16 | WHEREAS, Darren Simmons was known for his infectious | ||||||
17 | smile, which will be missed by all who knew him; his biggest | ||||||
18 | accomplishment was being by his daughter's side as he watched | ||||||
19 | her become an independent, successful adult; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Darren Simmons was preceded in death by his |

1 | father, Howard Simmons; his nephew, Tad Simmons; and his | ||||||
2 | grandparents; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Darren Simmons is survived by his wife of 21 | ||||||
4 | years, Kristie; his daughter, Allie; his mother, Roberta | ||||||
5 | Simmons; his siblings, Linda (Vernon) Uhe, Kelly (Kent) Frey, | ||||||
6 | Dennis (Karen) Simmons, and Daniel Simmons; and his many | ||||||
7 | nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; | ||||||
8 | therefore, be it

9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Darren R. Simmons and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further

14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
