2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Mel Gass of Creve Coeur, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on January 17, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mel Gass was born in Peoria to Henry and Bettie | ||||||
6 | (Snoke) Gass on October 3, 1957; he served in the United States | ||||||
7 | Army and married Donna (Tonjes) Getz in Groveland on February | ||||||
8 | 29, 2004; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Mel Gass worked as a Steamfitter at TSI in | ||||||
10 | Mossville since 1996, retiring in 2015; he was a member of | ||||||
11 | Steamfitters Local 353 in Peoria; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Uncle Mel", Mel Gass had | ||||||
13 | a generous heart and a big sense of humor; he enjoyed fishing, | ||||||
14 | hunting, and spending time with his family and friends, sharing | ||||||
15 | stories; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Mel Gass was preceded in death by his father and | ||||||
17 | his brother, John Gass; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Mel Gass is survived by his wife, Donna; his son, | ||||||
19 | Joshua Gass; his mother and stepfather, Bettie and Everett | ||||||
20 | Copeland; his sisters, Debbie (Pat) Murphy, Joni (Scott) |

2 | (Mike) Starch; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and | ||||||

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Mel Gass, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
7 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Mel Gass as an expression of our | ||||||
10 | deepest sympathy.
