1 | AN ACT concerning transportation.
| ||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by | ||||||
5 | changing Section 1-159.1 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (625 ILCS 5/1-159.1) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-159.1)
| ||||||
7 | Sec. 1-159.1. Person with disabilities. A natural person | ||||||
8 | who, as determined by a licensed physician, by a licensed | ||||||
9 | physician
assistant, or by a licensed advanced practice | ||||||
10 | registered nurse , or by a licensed physical therapist : (1) | ||||||
11 | cannot walk
without the use of, or
assistance from, a brace, | ||||||
12 | cane, crutch, another person, prosthetic device,
wheelchair, | ||||||
13 | or other assistive device; (2) is restricted by lung
disease | ||||||
14 | to
such an extent that his or her forced (respiratory) | ||||||
15 | expiratory volume for one
second, when measured by spirometry, | ||||||
16 | is less than one liter, or the arterial
oxygen tension is less | ||||||
17 | than 60 mm/hg on room air at rest; (3) uses
portable
oxygen; | ||||||
18 | (4) has a cardiac condition to the extent that the person's
| ||||||
19 | functional
limitations are classified in severity as Class III | ||||||
20 | or Class IV,
according to standards set by the American Heart | ||||||
21 | Association; (5) is
severely limited in the person's ability | ||||||
22 | to walk due to an arthritic,
neurological, oncological, or | ||||||
23 | orthopedic condition; (6) cannot walk 200 feet without

1 | stopping to rest because of one of the above 5 conditions; or | ||||||
2 | (7) is missing a hand or arm or has permanently lost the use of | ||||||
3 | a hand or arm.
