Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Insurance Code in an Article concerning accident and health insurance. Provides that benefits mandated by the Article do not apply to certain types of insurance policies (rather than specified provisions of the Article do not apply to short-term travel, disability income, long-term care, accident only, or limited or specified disease policies).

| 1 | AN ACT concerning regulation.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 352b as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (215 ILCS 5/352b new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 352b. Policy of individual or group accident and | ||||||
| 8 | health insurance. Unless specified otherwise and when used in | ||||||
| 9 | context of accident and health insurance policy benefits, | ||||||
| 10 | coverage, terms, or conditions required to be provided under | ||||||
| 11 | this Article, "policy of individual or group accident and | ||||||
| 12 | health insurance", as used in this Article, does not include | ||||||
| 13 | any coverage or policy that provides an excepted benefit, as | ||||||
| 14 | that term is defined in Section 2791(c) of the federal Public | ||||||
| 15 | Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 300gg-91). Nothing in this | ||||||
| 16 | amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly applies to a | ||||||
| 17 | policy of liability, workers' compensation, automobile medical | ||||||
| 18 | payment, or limited scope dental or vision benefits insurance | ||||||
| 19 | issued under this Code.

| 21 | Section 10. The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by | ||||||
| 22 | repealing Section 356z.16.
