2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to honor Representative Jason Barickman | ||||||
4 | on his time in the Illinois House and to congratulate him on | ||||||
5 | his recent election to the 53rd Illinois State Senate district; | ||||||
6 | and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman was appointed to serve out | ||||||
8 | the remaining days of then Rep. Shane Cultra's term for the | ||||||
9 | 105th Legislative District in the 96th General Assembly; he | ||||||
10 | went on to serve the 105th Legislative District during the 97th | ||||||
11 | General Assembly; he has won the opportunity to represent the | ||||||
12 | newly drawn 53rd State Senate district, which stretches from | ||||||
13 | Bloomington to the Indiana border; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman has always been a strong | ||||||
15 | supporter of Illinois farmers and the agriculture industry | ||||||
16 | throughout the State; he has been a relentless advocate for | ||||||
17 | small business owners and entrepreneurs, fought for policies to | ||||||
18 | lower individual and business tax burdens, encouraged economic | ||||||
19 | growth and hiring, and fought to rein in spending; he has been | ||||||
20 | an advocate of open and transparent government; and

21 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman is a founding partner of the | ||||||
22 | law office of Bartell, Barickman & Powell, LLP; he is an |

1 | entrepreneur at heart, actively investing in real estate and is | ||||||
2 | part owner in a title company he formed; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman was raised on a family farm | ||||||
4 | in Livingston County near Ancona; he graduated from Woodland | ||||||
5 | High School in 1993, and served in the Illinois Army National | ||||||
6 | Guard from 1993 to 2000, completing his basic and advanced | ||||||
7 | training at Fort Benning, Georgia; he graduated from Illinois | ||||||
8 | State University in 1998, where he served as ISU Student Body | ||||||
9 | President his senior year, with a degree in political science; | ||||||
10 | after graduation he spent 4 years in business, working for | ||||||
11 | Ernst & Young and the power company Dynegy; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman graduated from the | ||||||
13 | University of Illinois College of Law in May of 2005; he | ||||||
14 | completed legal internships with the Department of Justice's | ||||||
15 | Federal Bureau of Prisons and worked as a graduate assistant to | ||||||
16 | Governor Jim Edgar at the Institute of Government and Public | ||||||
17 | Affairs; and

18 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman has served as chairman of the | ||||||
19 | Champaign County Republican Party from 2006 to 2012; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman and his wife, Kristen, were | ||||||
21 | married in 2010 and welcomed a son, August, in May of 2011, and | ||||||
22 | a new son, Walter in January of 2013; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we honor Rep. Jason Barickman on his time in the Illinois House | ||||||
4 | and congratulate him on his recent election to the 53rd | ||||||
5 | Illinois State Senate district; and be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to Rep. Jason Barickman as an expression of our | ||||||
8 | esteem and respect.
