| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Pat Schmeder of Smithton | ||||||
| 4 | on being recognized among the "ELITE" (Extraordinary Leaders | ||||||
| 5 | Impacting Today's Environment) by the Center for Racial | ||||||
| 6 | Harmony; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Center for Racial Harmony is a not-for-profit | ||||||
| 8 | organization that aims to increase understanding, cooperation, | ||||||
| 9 | and communication among all races and ethnic groups; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Pat Schmeder serves as a volunteer with Heartlinks | ||||||
| 11 | Grief Center at Family Hospice in Belleville, where she helped | ||||||
| 12 | create grief groups and outreach programs for community youth; | ||||||
| 13 | together with Director Diana Cuddeback and other volunteers, | ||||||
| 14 | she grew Heartlinks Grief Center from serving a few children | ||||||
| 15 | and families per year to serving over 1,000 local youth yearly; | ||||||
| 16 | and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Pat Schmeder's teen group has been affectionately | ||||||
| 18 | dubbed the "Brat Pack"; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Along with her work at the Heartlinks Grief | ||||||
| 20 | Center, Pat Schmeder's community service also includes serving | ||||||
| 21 | for 15 years on the advisory board for RSVP, a group serving | ||||||

| 1 | local older adults, and volunteering at the Labor and Industry | ||||||
| 2 | Museum in Belleville, where she educates school tour groups on | ||||||
| 3 | Metro East history; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Pat Schmeder was presented with her award at a | ||||||
| 5 | banquet at The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows in | ||||||
| 6 | Belleville on October 19, 2014; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 8 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 9 | we congratulate Pat Schmeder on being recognized among the | ||||||
| 10 | "ELITE" (Extraordinary Leaders Impacting Today's Environment); | ||||||
| 11 | and be it further

| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to Pat Schmeder as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
