2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to recognize the East St. Louis Lincoln | ||||||
4 | Senior High School classes of 1961 as they celebrate their 53rd | ||||||
5 | anniversary on September 14, 2014; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Lincoln Senior High School classes of 1961 | ||||||
7 | boasts numerous successful members who can be found in | ||||||
8 | practically any field; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, For the January and June classes the themes were | ||||||
10 | "Our New Frontiers" and "Looking Up"; the processional was | ||||||
11 | "Triumphal March" from Aida; the music was "Thine is the | ||||||
12 | Kingdom" and "One World"; the class songs were "Vale" and | ||||||
13 | "Portrait of My Love"; the class Presidents were Omar Canty and | ||||||
14 | Mose McNeese; the Vice-Presidents were Lena Finley and Marilyn | ||||||
15 | Thomas; the Secretaries were Charlotte Henderson and Catherine | ||||||
16 | Redmond; the class colors were orange and black; the class | ||||||
17 | flowers were Orchid and Red Rose; the class mottos were "If | ||||||
18 | there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these | ||||||
19 | things", Philippians 4:8 and "The moving finger writes, and | ||||||
20 | having writ, moves on", Khayyam; and

21 | WHEREAS, Members of the classes of 1961 offer shining | ||||||
22 | examples of how to grow into ones elderly years with grace and |

2 | WHEREAS, The memory of classmates who have passed away are | ||||||
3 | held close to the hearts of those that remain from the classes | ||||||

5 | WHEREAS, Members of the Lincoln Senior High School classes | ||||||
6 | of 1961 are proud and honored to say "Our Strong Band Can Ne'er | ||||||
7 | Be Broken Formed at Lincoln High, For Surpassing Wealth | ||||||
8 | Unspoken, Sealed by Friendship's Tie; Lincoln High School, | ||||||
9 | Lincoln High School, Deep Graven On Each Heart, Shall Be Found | ||||||
10 | Unwavering True, When We From Thee Shall Part; therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
12 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
13 | we recognize the East St. Louis Lincoln Senior High School | ||||||
14 | classes of 1961 as they celebrate their 53rd anniversary on | ||||||
15 | September 14, 2014; and be it further

17 | presented to all members of the Lincoln Senior High School | ||||||
