HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Louis A. Meissner
4on 50 years of service as a volunteer firefighter for the City
5of Breese, the Breese Fire Protection District, and the
6surrounding communities; and
7 WHEREAS, Louis A. Meissner joined the Breese Fire
8Department on March 25, 1963; and
9 WHEREAS, For 50 years, 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year,
10whenever the alarm sounded, Louis A. Messiner voluntarily left
11his home and family to go to the aid of his community, many
12times at personal risk to himself; and
13 WHEREAS, Louis A. Meissner was born on September 29, 1943;
14he married Joanne Meyer on May 4, 1965 and they have a son,
15Alan (Annette) Meissner and a grandson, Austin Meissner; he
16worked at Basler Electric in Highland for over 46 years,
17starting on July 31, 1962 and retiring on January 13, 2009; he
18joined the United States Army Reserve on March 11, 1964 and was
19ordered to active duty in June of 1968; he served in Vietnam
20from November of 1968 through November of 1969; and
21 WHEREAS, Fire protection service is one to be honored and

1those individuals who choose to protect their communities
2deserve recognition; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we congratulate Louis A. Meissner on 50 years of service as a
6volunteer fire fighter for the City of Breese, the Breese Fire
7Protection District, and the surrounding communities; and be it
8further
9 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Louis A. Meissner as an expression of our esteem
11and respect.
