2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dianne | ||||||
4 | Levand Duner, who passed away on June 4, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Dianne Duner was born to John and Irene Levand in | ||||||
6 | Berwyn on December 21, 1941; she graduated from Nazareth | ||||||
7 | Academy in La Grange Park, Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa, | ||||||
8 | and National Louis University in Chicago; she married John | ||||||
9 | Duner of Downers Grove, and they brought their son, Kenyon | ||||||
10 | Duner, into the world in 1974; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, After completing her education, Dianne Duner | ||||||
12 | began her 40-year career in education, first as a teacher and | ||||||
13 | then in administrative roles, including as director of | ||||||
14 | curriculum and staff development for the LaGrange Highlands | ||||||
15 | School District; she will especially be remembered for her | ||||||
16 | love of France and for teaching French, English, and | ||||||
17 | mythology; and

18 | WHEREAS, Dianne Duner was involved in a number of | ||||||
19 | community-based service organizations, many of which were | ||||||
20 | located in Brookfield; she served for 23 years on the board of | ||||||
21 | trustees of the Linda Sokol Francis Brookfield Library and | ||||||
22 | presided as president when the library's new facility opened |

1 | in July of 2021; she was a tireless advocate for women's rights | ||||||
2 | and campaigned for the Equal Rights Amendment; she championed | ||||||
3 | animal adoption and humane treatment and was a supporter of | ||||||
4 | the arts; and

5 | WHEREAS, Dianne Duner was preceded in death by her former | ||||||
6 | husband, John Duner; her parents; and her brother, John | ||||||
7 | Levand; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Dianne Duner is survived by her son, Kenyon | ||||||
9 | Duner; her daughter-in-law, Katherine Wolicki; her | ||||||
10 | granddaughter, Beatrix Duner; and other extended family | ||||||
11 | members; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
13 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
14 | we mourn the passing of Dianne L. Duner and extend our sincere | ||||||
15 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
16 | her; and be it further
