2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Reginald | ||||||
4 | Lindell Hanks of Bolingbrook, who passed away on March 29, | ||||||
5 | 2011; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, He was born on May 25, 1949 to Daniel and Portia | ||||||
7 | Hanks; he married Ozella on December 7, 1974; he accepted | ||||||
8 | Christ at an early age and was baptized at Central Memorial | ||||||
9 | Missionary Baptist Church; he later rededicated his life and | ||||||
10 | was baptized at Living Word Christian Center, where he was a | ||||||
11 | faithful member and helped in the Loaves and Fish Ministry; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, He attended Jacob Beidler Elementary School and | ||||||
13 | Marshall High School and was later inducted into the Marshall | ||||||
14 | Alumni Hall of Fame; he received a Bachelor of Arts degree from | ||||||
15 | the University of Illinois Chicago and an MBA from the Lake | ||||||
16 | Forest Graduate School of Management; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, He worked in a variety of fields, including the | ||||||
18 | United States Post Office, Chicago radio stations, Milwaukee, | ||||||
19 | Wisconsin television stations, and as a radio announcer for a | ||||||
20 | Saturday night jazz show; he modeled for billboards and | ||||||
21 | posters, and point of sale materials nationwide; he worked as | ||||||
22 | an insurance agent for the Equitable Insurance Company; and he |

1 | worked for the Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company (later Stroh | ||||||
2 | Brewing Company), working as support in 40 states; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, he worked with the Chicago Mayor's Office of | ||||||
4 | Special Events, playing a major role in marketing the Taste of | ||||||
5 | Chicago; he was active in the Bolingbrook Community Basketball | ||||||
6 | league and was a well known high school basketball official, | ||||||
7 | traveling throughout the State to officiate games; and

8 | WHEREAS, After obtaining his MBA, he began a career as a | ||||||
9 | contract lobbyist and formed Tri-State Employee Benefits | ||||||
10 | Consultants; he later formed Dorjar Gloves, a distributor of a | ||||||
11 | variety of gloves to hospitals, doctors, dentists, | ||||||
12 | municipalities, and corrections; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel; | ||||||
14 | and his brother, Ronald; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Reginald Hanks is survived by his wife, Ozella; | ||||||
16 | his son, Daniel; his daughters, Aleccia, Janelle (Keenan), and | ||||||
17 | Regina; his grandsons, Jeffrey, Ronald, and Jiohvany; his | ||||||
18 | granddaughters, Avia and Kennedy; his mother, Portia; his | ||||||
19 | brothers-in-law, Kevin (Barbara) Patterson and Van Earl | ||||||
20 | Patterson; his sisters-in-law, Kathy Patterson, Susanna | ||||||
21 | Patterson, and Jacqueline Patterson; his uncle; several aunts; | ||||||
22 | and a host of cousins, friends, and Commandos; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
4 | Reginald Hanks; and be it further
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Reginald Hanks as a symbol of our | ||||||
7 | sincere sympathy.
