2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Walter | ||||||
4 | Boykin Jr. of Chicago; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr. was born on November 24, 1936, | ||||||
6 | in Russell, Alabama, to Walter Boykin Sr. and Lucy Howard; he | ||||||
7 | was the last of 7 siblings consisting of 4 girls and 3 boys; he | ||||||
8 | graduated from Wells High School and received a certificate in | ||||||
9 | Christian Education from Moody Bible Institute; he was married | ||||||
10 | to Alma for 57 years and they had 3 boys and one girl; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr. was employed at National Tea for | ||||||
12 | 21 years and retired from Kraft Foods after 20 years; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr. was a member of Union Missionary | ||||||
14 | Baptist Church for 42 years; he served in the following | ||||||
15 | ministries: chairman of Deacon Board Emeritus, trustee, bible | ||||||
16 | teacher, Sunday school teacher, and mission bible teacher; he | ||||||
17 | served in the Illinois State Convention as a bible teacher for | ||||||
18 | the Brotherhood; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Walter Boykin Jr.'s pastimes included studying | ||||||
20 | and researching the word of God; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
3 | we mourn the passing of Walter Boykin, and extend our sincere | ||||||
4 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
5 | him; and be it further

6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
7 | presented to the family of Walter Boykin Jr. as an expression | ||||||
8 | of our deepest sympathy.
