2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Paul | ||||||
4 | James Beaver Jr. of Lincoln, who passed away on February 26, | ||||||
5 | 2019; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was born in Lincoln to Paul James | ||||||
7 | and Mildred (Blaum) Beaver Sr. on March 19, 1936; he married | ||||||
8 | Sue Moore in Mt. Pulaski on November 24, 1960; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was a Professor of History at | ||||||
10 | Lincoln College, as well as a self-employed real estate | ||||||
11 | appraiser; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. served as Curator of the Lincoln | ||||||
13 | College Museum at Lincoln College; he served on the Logan | ||||||
14 | County Board, the Logan County Paramedics Association Board, | ||||||
15 | and as President of the Illinois Chester White Association; | ||||||
16 | along with Paul Beaver and Sons and Families, he produced many | ||||||
17 | award-winning Chester White Swine; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. worked with the tourism board on | ||||||
19 | the Looking for Lincoln project; he co-wrote the book Logan | ||||||
20 | County Pictorial History with Paul E. Gleason and also wrote | ||||||
21 | the books Abraham Lincoln in Logan County, Illinois 1834-1860, |

1 | and The Last Farm Boy; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was a member of the First | ||||||
3 | Presbyterian Church and the Lincoln Elks Club; he was an | ||||||
4 | athlete who played on the 1969 State Champion Road Runner | ||||||
5 | Softball team and the Road Runner Basketball team and also a | ||||||
6 | coach at Elkhart Grade School; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. was named Professor Emeritus at | ||||||
8 | Lincoln College, Grand Marshall of the 2008 Lincoln Community | ||||||
9 | High School Homecoming, and Courier Citizen of the Year in | ||||||
10 | 2008; he was a lifelong Cubs fan who lived long enough to | ||||||
11 | finally see a World Series win; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Paul Beaver Jr. is survived by his wife, Sue; his | ||||||
13 | daughters, Ann Lorraine (Ronald) Wolpert and Amy Jo (John) | ||||||
14 | O'Donnell; his grandchildren, Ethan Paul Witting, Hannah | ||||||
15 | Michel Witting, Lauren Ashley O'Donnell, and Kevin Patrick | ||||||
16 | O'Donnell; his brother, John (Kathy) Beaver; and his | ||||||
17 | brother-in-law, David Coogan; therefore, be it
| ||||||
18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we mourn the passing of Paul James Beaver Jr. and extend our | ||||||
21 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
22 | and loved him; and be it further
