| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Theresa | ||||||
| 4 | A.
Cockrell, who passed away on February 9, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell was a lifelong resident of
| ||||||
| 6 | Downers Grove; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell dedicated over 35 years of her
| ||||||
| 8 | life to Downers Grove Township, serving first as a clerk and | ||||||
| 9 | then being
appointed to the position of assessor in 1983; she | ||||||
| 10 | was elected to the position in 1985 and re-elected in 1989, | ||||||
| 11 | 1993, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2013; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell was a member of the
International | ||||||
| 13 | Association of Assessing Officials and a past
President of the | ||||||
| 14 | DuPage County Assessors Association; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell lived a full life filled with
her | ||||||
| 16 | interests in history, writing, art, reading, antiquing,
| ||||||
| 17 | gardening, and her three pets, Dover, Sadie, and Tweak; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Theresa Cockrell was the daughter of Helen and
the | ||||||
| 19 | late John Cockrell; the sister of Susan Sheldon and Janis
| ||||||
| 20 | (James) Gorski; the aunt of Amanda (Mark) Roe, Amber (Collin)
| ||||||

| 1 | Verbick, and Daniel and Emily Gorski; and the great-aunt of
| ||||||
| 2 | Evelyn and Miles Roe, and Coral Verbick; all who will remember
| ||||||
| 3 | her will deeply miss her; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 5 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 6 | mourn the passing of Theresa A. Cockrell, and extend our | ||||||
| 7 | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 8 | and loved her; and be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 10 | presented to the family of Theresa Cockrell as an expression of | ||||||
| 11 | our deepest sympathy.
