HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dean
Sweitzer, who passed away on February 4, 2015; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was born on December 19, 1951 in
Chicago; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer earned the honorable rank of Eagle
Scout on June 6, 1966, an accomplishment he was particularly
proud of; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer attended and received an
undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in epidemiology from
Tulane University in New Orleans; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was famous for his love of long and
large meals, encouraging all to over-order, overeat, and stay
far too long; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer always made his presence known
through the loud proclamation of one of his many calling cards:
"YO!", "You're whacked!", "Ooooooooookay!", "I HATE YOU!", and
"Can I smoke in here?", all shouted from his undying spirit of
generosity and love; and

WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was a legendary personality; his
genuine humility made him a friend to all and a man who would
help anyone in need; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer was the self-proclaimed "King of the
Idiots", ruling his loyal cadre of idiots from his seat at the
Globe Tavern and doing his work as a "hobbyist, not a
lobbyist"; and
WHEREAS, In spite of his loud protestations that he was
retired, Dean Sweitzer was passionate about his work protecting
the quality of care of the hundreds of residents served by
Lexington Health Care and the integrity of the long-term care
profession as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sweitzer is survived by his wife, Pat "The
Warden" Sweitzer; a daughter, Racheal McEniry; 3 brothers,
Caesar Sweitzer, Richard Sweitzer, and David Sweitzer, a
sister-in-law, Theresa Ventura; a brother-in-law, Gerald
Dennehey; 7 nieces and nephews, Emily, Charles, Christopher,
Taylor, and Anna Sweitzer and Timothy and Michael Ventura; and
countless other family members and friends; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that

we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of
Dean Sweitzer; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Dean Sweitzer as an expression of
our sympathy.
