2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of William | ||||||
4 | Steven "Bill" Meyer of Hamel, who passed away on January 6, | ||||||
5 | 2023; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer was born to Wilbur and Lucille Meyer | ||||||
7 | in St. Louis, Missouri on January 9, 1947; he graduated from | ||||||
8 | Edwardsville High School in 1964; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer served in the U.S. Army, where he was | ||||||
10 | deployed to Vietnam and survived when his helicopter was shot | ||||||
11 | down; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer owned W.S. Meyer & Associates, an | ||||||
13 | insurance firm, and he was on the board of directors of the | ||||||
14 | First National Bank of Hamel; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer was committed to serving the people of | ||||||
16 | Hamel and Madison County, and he previously served as the | ||||||
17 | Mayor of Hamel and as a village trustee; he also served on the | ||||||
18 | Madison County Board for over 20 years, where he chaired the | ||||||
19 | Transportation Committee; and

20 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer will be remembered as a devoted and |

1 | loving husband, father, and grandfather, a dutiful public | ||||||
2 | servant, a loyal friend, and a man of strong faith; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer was preceded in death by his parents | ||||||
4 | and his daughter, Jennifer Meyer-Ashauer; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bill Meyer is survived by his wife of 55 years, | ||||||
6 | Amy (Pohlmann) Meyer; his daughters, Julie (Aaron) Fish and | ||||||
7 | Billie (Guy) Robinson; his grandchildren, Ethan, Morgan, and | ||||||
8 | Peyton Ashauer, Meila and Willow Robinson, and Gabriel Fish; | ||||||
9 | his sister, Sue (Larry) Torbeck; and his many nieces, nephews, | ||||||
10 | and cousins; therefore, be it

11 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
12 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
13 | we mourn the passing of William Steven "Bill" Meyer and extend | ||||||
14 | our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who | ||||||
15 | knew and loved him; and be it further

17 | presented to the family of Bill Meyer as an expression of our | ||||||
