Bill Title: Amends the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code. Provides that any veteran who receives services provided by a State mental health facility that are not covered by the veteran's existing insurance plan shall not be liable for any charges as set forth in specified provisions of the Code. Effective July 1, 2010.

1 | AN ACT concerning health.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The Mental Health and Developmental | ||||||
5 | Disabilities Code is amended by adding Section 5-108.2 as | ||||||
6 | follows:

7 | (405 ILCS 5/5-108.2 new) | ||||||
8 | Sec. 5-108.2. Exemption from charges; veterans. Any | ||||||
9 | veteran who receives services provided by a State mental health | ||||||
10 | facility that are not covered by the veteran's existing | ||||||
11 | insurance plan shall not be liable for any charges as set forth | ||||||
12 | in Sections 5-105, 5-106, and 5-107 of this Code. For purposes | ||||||
13 | of this Section, "veteran" means an Illinois resident who is a | ||||||
14 | veteran as defined under subsection (h) of Section 1491 of | ||||||
15 | Title 10 of the United States Code.

16 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, | ||||||
17 | 2010.
