Bill Title: Creates the Best Candidate for the Job Act. Provides that private and public employers shall properly consider for employment and licenses persons previously convicted of one or more criminal offenses. Prohibits discrimination against such persons unless there is a direct relationship between the offense and the specific license or employment sought. Establishes criteria for evaluating convictions. Exempts law enforcement agencies.

AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2846
2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2846 on page 5, by
3inserting immediately below line 2 the following:
4 "Section 30. Employer protections. If an employer
5demonstrates that it has hired an individual pursuant to this
6Act, except for a willful or wanton act by the employer in
7hiring the individual, the employer shall not be civilly or
8criminally liable for an act or omission by the employee.".
