Summary

Amends the Liquor Control Act of 1934. Provides that no license shall be issued or renewed on or after the effective date of the amendatory Act for the sale at retail of any alcoholic liquor within 1,000 feet of any school other than an institution of higher learning, mental health facility as defined under the Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, or hospital operated by or under the authority of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs. Provides that this prohibition does not apply to hotels offering restaurant service, regularly organized clubs, or to restaurants, food shops, or other places where the sale of alcoholic liquor is not the principal business carried on, unless required by local ordinance. Makes a conforming change.
