| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 923
| ||||||
| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 923, on page 1, | ||||||
| 3 | immediately below line 3, by inserting the following:

| 4 | "Section 3. The State Officials and Employees Ethics Act is | ||||||
| 5 | amended by adding Section 5-57 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (5 ILCS 430/5-57 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 5-57. Prohibition on simultaneous tenure for | ||||||
| 8 | constitutional officers. | ||||||
| 9 | (a) It is unlawful for a person to be an executive branch | ||||||
| 10 | constitutional officer or a legislative branch constitutional | ||||||
| 11 | officer and to hold the office of county board member, township | ||||||
| 12 | supervisor, township trustee, township assessor, or township | ||||||
| 13 | clerk simultaneously. | ||||||
| 14 | (b) As used in this Section, "legislative branch | ||||||
| 15 | constitutional officer" does not include the Auditor | ||||||
| 16 | General.".
