                    HOUSE RESOLUTION NO.    
           BY  JACOBY, MOORE, HIGHFILL, NIELSEN, LENSING,
         MASCHER, T. TAYLOR, KRESSIG, HEATON, BRECKENRIDGE,
                     KACENA, OLSON, and KAUFMANN
  1  1 A Resolution congratulating University of Iowa wrestler
  1  2    Spencer Lee on winning his first National Collegiate
  1  3    Athletic Association wrestling championship title
  1  4    at 125 pounds.
  1  5    WHEREAS, on March 17, 2018, University of Iowa
  1  6 wrestler Spencer Lee won the 2018 National Collegiate
  1  7 Athletic Association (NCAA) wrestling championship
  1  8 title at 125 pounds, defeating his opponent 5=1; and
  1  9    WHEREAS, Lee scored a total of 27 team points
  1 10 for Iowa at the 2018 NCAA wrestling championships,
  1 11 including seven from bonus results, and was one of five
  1 12 Hawkeye wrestlers to earn All=American status; and
  1 13    WHEREAS, Lee, a freshman at the University of Iowa,
  1 14 became Iowa's first true freshman national champion
  1 15 since 1993; and
  1 16    WHEREAS, Lee's championship title win was the
  1 17 culmination of an incredible comeback season at Iowa
  1 18 with a 22=2 overall record, having started the season
  1 19 recovering from knee surgery and competing for the
  1 20 first time in December; and
  1 21    WHEREAS, Lee was named the 2018 Big Ten Freshman of
  1 22 the Year, the winner of the Iowa wrestling program's
  1 23 2018 Mike Howard Most Valuable Wrestler Award, and
  1 24 the winner of Amateur Wrestling News' 2018 Hammer
  1 25 Award; and
  1 26    WHEREAS, among his many athletic achievements prior
  2  1 to becoming a Hawkeye wrestler, Lee was a three=time
  2  2 Pennsylvania state champion, a two=time junior world
  2  3 champion, and a one=time cadet world champion; NOW
  2  4 THEREFORE,
  2  5    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, That
  2  6 the House of Representatives congratulates Spencer
  2  7 Lee on winning his first National Collegiate Athletic
  2  8 Association wrestling championship title.
