  1  1    Section 1.  Section 97B.49B, subsection 1, paragraph e, Code
  1  2 2016, is amended by adding the following new subparagraphs:
  1  3    NEW SUBPARAGRAPH.  (15)  A special security officer employed
  1  4 by a board of regents institution as set forth in section
  1  5 262.13.
  1  6    NEW SUBPARAGRAPH.  (16)  An employee of the civil commitment
  1  7 unit for sex offenders operated by the department of human
  1  8 services.
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 11 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 12    This bill provides that persons employed as a special
  1 13 security officer of a board of regents institution or an
  1 14 employee of the civil commitment unit for sex offenders
  1 15 operated by the department of human services are included
  1 16 within the protection occupation category of the Iowa public
  1 17 employees' retirement system.
