  3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:

  1  1    Section 1.  Section 92.11, subsection 2, Code 2016, is
  1  2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1  3    NEW PARAGRAPH.  0c.  An instruction permit issued under
  1  4 section 321.180B, subsection 1.
  1  5    Sec. 2.  Section 92.11, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code 2016,
  1  6 is amended to read as follows:
  1  7    c.  For cases where the proofs designated in paragraphs "a",
  1  8  and "b", and "0c" are not obtainable, documentation issued by
  1  9 the federal government that is deemed by the commissioner to
  1 10 be sufficient evidence of age, or an affidavit signed by a
  1 11 licensed physician certifying that in the physician's opinion
  1 12 the applicant for the work permit is fourteen years of age or
  1 13 more.
  1 14                           EXPLANATION
  1 15 The inclusion of this explanation does not constitute agreement with
  1 16 the explanation's substance by the members of the general assembly.
  1 17    This bill provides that a driver's instruction permit issued
  1 18 under Code section 321.180B, subsection 1, can be used as
  1 19 proof that a child is 14 years of age or more for purposes of
  1 20 obtaining a child labor permit from the labor commissioner.
