THE SENATE

S.R. NO.

107

TWENTY-SIXTH LEGISLATURE, 2011

STATE OF HAWAII

SENATE RESOLUTION

urging the Department of Transportation to collaborate with the United States Army, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the state Attorney General to resolve all issues delaying the start of the Dillingham Airfield modernization project.

WHEREAS, capital improvement project funds have been appropriated for a new potable water system and other related improvements for the airport modernization program at Dillingham Airfield; and

WHEREAS, this project, although an important one, is a low priority for the Department of Transportation Airports Division; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation has stated that there are jurisdictional liability issues with the project, involving both the United States Army and the Department of Land and Natural Resources, the resolution of which would require involvement by the State Attorney General; and

WHEREAS, funds have already been appropriated for this project, thus the Department of Transportation should make this a higher priority so that the improvements may be made and a new potable water system built; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Twenty-sixth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2011, that the Department of Transportation is urged to collaborate with the United States Army, the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and the State Attorney General to resolve all issues delaying the start of the Dillingham Airfield modernization project; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Transportation, the

Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, and the Attorney General.
