A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE ELEVENTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $7,861,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2016–2017 for the purpose of financing capital improvement projects for the eleventh senatorial district, as follows:

     To be expended by the department of education:

A.   Noelani elementary school, Oahu

Design, construction and equipment for a new library/multi-purpose building; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

              Design                  $   800,000

              Construction              5,920,000

              Equipment                    80,000

                   Total funding                  $ 6,800,000

B.   Queen Kaahumanu elementary school, Oahu

Repave and resurface the Kinau parking lot.

              Construction            $    75,000

                   Total funding                  $    75,000

C.   Queen Kaahumanu elementary school, Oahu

Construction of parking lot on Piikoi side of campus.

              Construction            $   150,000

                   Total funding                  $   150,000

D.   Roosevelt high school, Oahu

Replacement of athletic field turf at the stadium.

              Construction            $   700,000

                   Total funding                  $   700,000

E.   Roosevelt high school, Oahu

Replacement of rifle range roof and enclosing the rifle range from the shooting platform to the target area.

              Plans                   $     5,000

              Construction                 35,000

                   Total funding                  $    40,000

F.   Roosevelt high school, Oahu

Repair stadium bleachers to stop water leakage into classrooms and locker rooms below.

              Construction            $    30,000

                   Total funding                  $    30,000

G.   Roosevelt high school, Oahu

Pave area behind the athletic field scoreboard.

              Construction            $    50,000

                   Total funding                  $    50,000

H.   Stevenson middle school, Oahu

Construction to increase the height of a retaining wall fronting the campus along Nehoa and Auwaiolimu streets.

              Construction            $    10,000

                   Total funding                  $    10,000

I.   Stevenson middle school, Oahu

Construction and equipment to install ductless split air conditioning units to cool the school's servers, networking equipment, and telephone system.

              Construction            $     3,000

              Equipment               $     3,000

                   Total funding                  $     6,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2018, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the designated expending agency for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2016.
