A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE eleventh SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $14,890,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the eleventh senatorial district, as follows:

1.   President Theodore Roosevelt High School

     A.   Plans, design, construction, and equipment for new music facilities with classrooms, practice rooms, teacher offices, and other related facilities; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

          Plans                           $600,000

          Design                          $600,000

          Construction                 $12,000,000

          Equipment                       $500,000

          Total funding                        $13,700,000

2.   Robert Louis Stevenson Middle School

     A.   Construction and equipment to provide air conditioning for twenty classrooms.

          Construction                     $90,000

          Equipment                       $150,000

          Total funding                           $240,000

3.   President Abraham Lincoln Elementary School

     A.   Plans, design, construction, and equipment for a new covered play court facility; ground and site improvements; equipment and appurtenances.

          Plans                            $15,000

          Design                           $60,000

          Construction                    $390,000

          Equipment                        $35,000

          Total funding                           $500,000

4.   Noelani Elementary School

     A.   Plans for electrical assessment of the complete campus.

          Plans                           $250,000

          Total funding                           $250,000

5.   Manoa Elementary School

     A.   Construction and equipment for new playground structure for first graders to replace structure removed due to age and wear.

          Construction                     $75,000

          Equipment                        $75,000

          Total funding                           $150,000

6.   Queen Kaahumanu Elementary School

     A.   Construction and equipment for replacement of cafeteria dining room ceiling fans.

          Construction                     $15,000

          Equipment                        $35,000

          Total funding                            $50,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriations are made; provided that all moneys from the appropriations that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
