S.B. NO.

2762

TWENTY-EIGHTH LEGISLATURE, 2016

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

Relating to the king kamehameha celebration commission.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that section 8-5, Hawaii Revised Statutes, establishes the King Kamehameha celebration commission, which is the coordinating agency for all celebrations commemorating King Kamehameha I, generally observed throughout Hawaii on June 11th of each year.

The legislature further finds that regular oversight is beneficial to the smooth operation of government commissions.  This oversight often takes the form of financial and management audits conducted by the office of the auditor.

The purpose of this Act is to require the auditor to conduct a financial and management audit of the King Kamehameha celebration commission.

SECTION 2.  The auditor is required to conduct a financial and management audit of the King Kamehameha celebration commission.

The auditor shall submit a report of any findings or recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2017.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
