A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE seventeenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $29,887,500 or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2022-2023 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the seventeenth senatorial district, as follows:

1.   Waipahu elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Construction and equipment for air conditioning for classrooms.

          Construction                   $130,000

          Equipment                      $120,000

          Total funding                                 $250,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     A.   Construction for replacement of broken gym bleachers.

          Construction                 $2,000,000

          Total funding                               $2,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     A.   Construction for a multipurpose athletic court improvement project, including resurfacing the current courts, which have created a safety issue for students.

          Construction                 $1,000,000

          Total funding                               $1,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     A.   Design and construction for re-keying of all exterior locks on campus.

          Design                          $93,750

          Construction                   $343,750

          Total funding                                 $437,500

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5.   Waipahu high school, Oahu

     A.   Construction for phase 2 of campus painting.

          Construction                   $600,000

          Total funding                                 $600,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

6.   Palisades elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Design and construction for an outdoor covered play-court.

          Design                       $1,077,000

          Construction                 $4,423,000

          Total funding                               $5,500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

7.   Honowai elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Design and construction for covered walkways connecting buildings to the cafeteria, ground and site improvements, equipment and appurtenances.

          Design                          $50,000

          Construction                 $1,450,000

          Total funding                               $1,500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

8.   Pearl City elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Plans, design, and construction to resurface a driveway.

          Plans                          $100,000

          Design                         $100,000

          Construction                 $2,000,000

          Total funding                               $2,200,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

9.   Pearl City elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Plans, design, and construction for slope stablization.

          Plans                          $250,000

          Design                         $250,000

          Construction                 $5,000,000

          Total funding                               $5,500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

10.  Pearl City elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Plans, design, and construction to replace water supply lines.

          Plans                          $250,000

          Design                         $250,000

          Construction                 $5,000,000

          Total funding                               $5,500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

11.  Pearl City elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Plans, design, and construction to replace playground equipment.

          Plans                          $100,000

          Design                         $100,000

          Construction                 $2,000,000

          Total funding                               $2,200,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

12.  August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Construction to continue the whole-school renovation.

          Construction                 $1,300,000

          Total funding                               $1,300,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

13.  August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Construction for a new school-wide unified communication bell and public address system.

          Construction                   $650,000

          Total funding                                 $650,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

14.  August Ahrens elementary school, Oahu

     A.   Construction for a new cooling system for building "M", electrical upgrades, and related improvements.

          Construction                 $1,250,000

          Total funding                               $1,250,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriations unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
